Well, ladies and gentlemen, another year is behind us. Are we ready to start anew? I think it would be healthy for all of us to reflect a while on this past year. Here are a few questions to ask yourself:
1 - Did you truly do all that you could to achieve your goals and dreams that you set for yourself last year?
2 - If you didn't, what could you have done differently?
3 - If you did, are you prepared to repeat those behaviors in the New Year?
4 - Are you 100% willing to leave behind the should haves, would haves and could haves? They are MEANINGLESS! Regret serves no purpose other than to hold us back. It's perfectly okay to have regrets as long as it only serves to motivate us for the future. If it's holding you back or weighing on your mind (or on the scale!), it will only ruin your tomorrow as much as it's ruining your today!
Ask yourself how you want to feel one year from today. In one year when you are reflecting back on 2009 and getting ready to begin 2010, how do you want to feel emotionally, physically and mentally? That's the bottom line. Ask yourself that question and the answer will tell you what you need to accomplish and the changes you need to make in the New Year.
As of midnight on January 1st you have 12 months *** 52 weeks *** 365 days *** 8,784 hours *** 527,040 minutes *** 31,622,400 seconds to work with! How will you make them count?! Will you spend the first minutes in the New Year wishing you had done something different last year? WASTED TIME!! Will you dread the New Year out of repeating past mistakes? WASTED TIME!! Will you feel anxious about the changes that need to be made to reach your goals and dreams? WASTED TIME!!
Or will you spend those first few minutes looking forward to the brighter horizon that's before you? TIME WELL SPENT!! Will you embrace the changes that you're going to make because you know that they will bring you closer to your dreams and goals? TIME WELL SPENT!! Will you cherish the fact that whatever happened yesterday no longer matters because you are going to have a good day today, which will lead to a great tomorrow? TIME WELL SPENT!! Will you appreciate the mistakes made in the past because they've taught you valuable lessons that will help you in the future? TIME WELL SPENT!!
I promise you that if you truly give it your all, your first weigh in of the New Year will be the most you weigh for the rest of your life. Isn't that awesome?! Imagine getting on that scale and knowing in your heart that you will NEVER weigh that much again. Gosh, it give me the chills!
I'm hereby giving everyone permission to start with a fresh, clean slate! Your first weigh-in in January is a BRAND NEW beginning. It's doesn't matter what happened yesterday. All that truly matters is what you're going to do RIGHT NOW!! Don't fret about tomorrow, next week, next month, the next holiday, your birthday, or any other such thing. All we have to worry about is the next moment.
Happy New Year!! Happy New You!!
