If it's difficult to find 30 minutes in your day to devote to exercise, don't underestimate the value of 10 minutes. Each of these on their own may not amount to much, but doing three or more of them throughout the day will collectively equal a full workout.
1. Walk or march in place while watching television, waiting for the microwave or coffee maker, waiting for a restroom or talking on the phone.
2. Bring groceries in from the car one bag at a time.
3. Fold the clothes from the dryer by bending and getting one article of clothing at a time. Bend at the knees to work your thighs and alternating bending left and right from the waist to work your sides.
4. Loosen and tighten your stomach, butt and leg muscles while brushing your teeth, doing laundry, or at traffic lights.
5. While on the computer, set a timer for 10 minutes. When it rings, march in place, climb a flight of stairs, or dance to a good song.
6. While at work, leave your desk at least once an hour to walk around the office for five minutes.
7. Deliver messages at work in person instead of by email and/or make more than one trip to the mailroom.
8. Whenever possible, use the furthest restroom in an office building or mall.
9. Don't drive around looking for the closest parking spot. Select a further spot and walk.
10. When shopping at a mall, take your packages to the car as you purchase the items instead of lugging them around and taking them all at once.
11. Pace while talking on the telephone.
12. Avoid the drive-thru at the bank, pharmacy, etc. and park to go inside.
Please see time saving tips which will help you find the 30 minutes you need to complete these mini-workouts.
