I've received a lot of recognition for my weight loss. I was recognized in 2004 as Michigan Runner-up Queen and State Division winner (weight loss honors with TOPS). I've been featured on a local talk show and in two international magazines. I was selected to be in an exercise video for the morbidly obese and those with limited mobility. These are all wonderful rewards to honor my success. But, without a doubt, the greatest reward is that I truly love and respect the reflection that smiles back at me from the mirror every morning. That -- by far! -- is the reward I'm most proud of. I can truly say I love myself inside and OUT!
The most important thing that I've learned is DON'T QUIT!
While attending an international convention with TOPS (Take off Pounds Sensibly) ®, I met a wonderful gentleman (David) who was there from Kentucky. I knew with my effort TOPS would bring me weight loss success. I never dreamt that it would also bring me the love of my life, my best friend. Today I'm happy to say that I'm David's wife. I like to tell people that I lost 140 pounds with TOPS then I gained 185!
I knew losing weight would prolong my life. I had no idea that one day it would allow me to prolong the life of a dear friend. I donated a kidney to my friend (Cami) in August of 2007. I wouldn't have even been considered as a candidate if I hadn't lost the weight. The gifts from achieving my health and wellness goals just continue and now I'm able to bless others. Even though I did end up going under anesthesia after all! :)
Thanks for allowing me to share my weight loss story with you. If you're interested, please allow me to share a small photo gallery of pictures that were taken throughout my journey. I hope that I haven't bored you and that you've found something to inspire you.
Now go to health!
